Welcome to my portfolio, thanks for your visit. First show you my work and academic achievement. In the second part will show the progress within the company where I work now, and finally I've done some work on my own.

Bachelor´s degree thesis.

My thesis was presented in 2004 at the National University of Colombia, to qualify for certification as physicist,

I noticed this issue for several reasons, one of them was the fact that it was possible to use this simulation model by applying it to industrial developments, for example to simulate a wind tunnel and see the fluid dynamics of a bus as we manufacture in the factory in my family, on the other hand though this project was very physical content, this was a purely computational problem and that was familiar theme for me, finally the approach through the method of Lattice -Boltzmann was novel, as well as
an alternative to finite difference method widely used in problems of computational fluid dynamics. The title of my thesis was "Simulation of the behavior of a fluid in motion around a body using the Lattice-Boltzmann method in two dimensions.

Abstract: This paper simulates a fluid in two dimensions for an incompressible viscous steady flow. It is used for this purpose the Lattice-Boltzmann method, a method that recreates the Navier-Stokes equations and is particularly useful for modeling complicated boundary conditions. The simulation is performed in a rectangular area, which simulates flow unobstructed to know the central velocity profile (Pouiselle Profile), then analyzed the fluid around different obstacles with different geometries. In each case we calculate the velocity and local pressure (in each of the points in space of the simulation), and globally it is estimated the number of Reynolds. The viscosity is introduced as an external parameter.(pdf file -- spanish--)

This work was made in c++ code, (here is the code) and the visualization program used was opendx

Other important academic work.

Within my studies in physics, several works are worth naming, because they were important in my experience within the university, I name them here more by the personal importance that by the academic merits that these can have.

Oscilloscope made with obsolete PC.
Ricardo Amezquita, (who was then my thesis director), created the course of PC-based electronic instrumentation in 2001, he took this initiative because it worked in his own holography company, and machines which were built by him, printed the holograms using the technology of real time control based on RTLinux, he might share his knowledge to students of physics at the national university, I was really appreciated this course because it required manual labor, trial and error work, and more than one class was a workshop where the teacher helped develop the ideas of their students. In the lab where we worked had stored many computers that could not throw away due to bureaucratic problems, among them were many obsolete computers and each student may have one or more of such equipment for their works, I opt for a 386 installing a basic version of Debian with kernel RTLinux .Then I made a simple graphical interface without having to load the Linux graphical environment since the machine would not run. Through the PC parallel port I connected a small circuit with a digital analog converter, which converted input signals into signals that could interpret by the pc, this signal was processed by the kernel real time and displayed through the gnu svga libs. This work was the total score of the course, It was 4.7/5.0

ph meter
As a final project for the course "Evaluation Workshop II" I make a ph-meter, this consisted of an electronic device which measure the hydrogen ion concentration in the water, consisted of a tube that is submerged in water, a small LCD screen and analog-digital converter to prevent the ionization of the liquid affect the results, the circuit should take measurements of the reaction of the liquid to a square pulse. This device worked well and was the total of note in this curse being this 4.1/5.0

Ecosystem (Artificial Life)
It was the final draft of the course "simulation methods in physics”, this was delivered by Prof. Jose Daniel Muñoz, consisted mainly of computer modeling of physical phenomena. Such as final project I chose to make a small ecosystem, in where lived small simple beings that they had food, they could reproduce, or they could die, let the system evolve two days, with interesting conclusions on the evolution of these creatures.

Physics students Linux group .
In 2001 and 2002 there was widespread distribution of the operating system on our faculty, many physics students create a group where we share many experiences on this operating system without having people who specialize in computer science, physics students only. This group managed several computer rooms of the faculty work in Linux, and programming courses were taught with compilers on Linux.

My jobs:

iBand Networks company.
Taking advantage of the skills that many of us had developed in the group of Linux in physics, along with several partners in 2003 decided to found the company iBand Networks.

Some of the projects we do as the company were there:

  • CRM:  This system is used by the Electro advanced electronics to manage the customer service was one of our first projects, we build on a PostgreSQL database with a web interface developed in PHP.
  • QoS: This system leverages the Linux NAT functionality within this include our own code to manage speed in a network packet, modifying the Linux kernel modules, these developments were made in c, the interface to manage the system was also developed in postgres and php.
  • Access control system. We built a software system that integrates hardware, door openers with a centralized server to authenticate access to different parts of a building, we put all the access policies in a postgres database and develop software that carried out consultations necessary to allow or deny access, but in early tests, the delay between reading the card and the opening was too large, the project was almost canceled for this reason, but we finally found a solution to this problem by modifying certain algorithms query the database so they could respond in less than 10ms to the DB query. This system was developed for the Scandia insured building in Bogota

I work in the company of family Since 2004, in 2002-2003 the company was almost in bankruptcy, and my family called me to work on it, we decided together with my family work hard to save the company.
This company is engaged in the manufacture of buses and in it I have made many occupations, although at this moment I work as CFO.

The company currently has 3 products:
  • Polaris
  • Camino
  • Midibus.

Some achievements worthy of mention in the company, of which

I have been involved:

  • End of state intervention in the company (Colombian bankruptcy law), July 2005. The family regained control of the company after nearly 4 years of intervention, we did a great financial effort to pay the debts.
  • 2006 doubled the amount of people in the company from 100 to 200 people this year to meet the demand of the Colombian market.
  • 2007 Launch of the Camino AGA model.
  • 2007 record sales, we sold about 12 million.
  • 2009 first export to Costa Rica.
  • Launch of AGA Midibus model.

Some projects I've managed within the company
  • Projects of air conditioning systems. We work collaboratively with the company Hispacold of Spain to offer advanced air conditioning systems in Colombia bus, I am responsible for this project since 2007
  • Project to establish a free zone in the city: Our company purchased land for the purpose of the Colombian government to declare him free zone, this process is still ongoing and I am responsible for it within the company.
  • Standardization ISO 9001, we are finalizing the standardization process of the company to obtain this certificate, I am also responsible for this process.
  • Help the community: funding children's playroom Duitama Regional Hospital

Other Activities

My city

Regional Planning Council
Since 2008 I am a member of the council's planning Duitama, and acted as chairman of it, is a board where people reaunen representative sectors of the city, I was appointed by the mayor as the representative of the industrial sector of the city.
In this council we work mainly on two things, one was the review of the development plan of the city, which is the document where the mayor define their policies for the municipality within its mandate, and the other is the land management plan, which is the document which the city defines its urban plan.
From my position in the industrial sector, proposed the division of 100 hectares of land for the city as land available for industrial activities, besides the city's commitment to bring public services to those areas, so that the creation of an area where could generate jobs within the city, which has a very small economy.
Likewise with other council members (Celso Vargas), who is the university representative on the council, are working on a traffic analysis platform, using GPS technology, this project is in progress and hope to contribute to the city with detailed traffic behavior.
We also worked on the restructuring of the sewerage system of the city, with the main objective decontaminate the Chicamocha river, where Duitama carries its sewage.

LEGO MINDSTORM

Several months ago I worked with amateur Lego Mindstorm (I share

many hours with my little sons to work with this), it has been an important experience for me, not projects per se but important experience for their experiment. After conducting several projects with Mindstorms, I found near my city in a very remote corner of Boyaca, in a town called Miraflores a group of boys and girls achievement through hard work to win the Firts Lego League, I immediately knew, take my car and I went there to share with them, I could bring Lego Mindstorm

kit for his school. It was an important experience for me because it showed me that technology can change people's lives, even in the farthest corner of the world, even where there is no technological tradition.

Openstreetmap and traffic analysis
I am one of the openstreetmap project partners, have worked mainly in the development of cartography in my town, now with the UPTC are working on creating a traffic analysis model that serves the city as a decision tool. I also have a blog to help on the GIS tools related with OSM.

ADempiere ERP
I'm a citizen of the user and development community adempiere. I'm an active user and some developments I have helped.

KITE AND CHDK
For the creation of mapping of my city, where there is no kind of aerial photography or detailed satellite imagery, I have worked to build a kite, take a camera in it with the kit canon CHDK for a very low cost and take orthopictures of my city.

Some samples of photos adquired by me, with a rokaku kite, and canon A480 camera.

CONCLUSION

In my life I've always had interest in implementing information technology in all places where I worked, sometimes successfully, sometimes not, but always dreaming and thinking that technology could enhance or change the way they work. The best times of my life have been moments when along with my colleagues we have come to an idea, a solution, and the best thing to a new creation. I have been fortunate, because in iBand and in Autobuses AGA I have learned to work together and enjoy great technology searching for products and processes that I have helped develop.

In the teams I've worked in software development always think before starting to make codes, it is necessary to search previous developments to be used, my co-workers recognize in particular my ability to research, understand and previously developed to integrate this developments to our projects.
In particular I have always an interest in technologies related to mapping, use of mobile devices, and since 1995 I have had a close link with GNU technologies, especially Linux and databases, the use of these technologies and their integration with electronic devices, for example, I have the idea to develop a movil device put in a taxi or bus to create the mapping data of Colombia, because in Colombia the geographical data is too inaccurate.
